Macbeth v. Beowulf
When it comes to being a leader there are many factors that determine how they rule. Just like
how Macbeth come to power was very different how Beowulf did, because they were under
different circumstances. They also had different leadership styles. Over all they were both
leaders so no matter what how they are they were both leaders

They’re many different type of leaders. There is good and bad in everything. So you cant
expect everyone to lead there kingdom the same way. As a prime example Macbeth was a cold
hearted ruler. Everything had to be his way or someone died because he ruled with an iron fist.
Beowulf on the other hand was more of a righteous and respectable leader. The people actually
wanted him to rule (in movie) really because of the way he carried himself.

How great leaders acquire their power is all up to them and the actions that they take.
Beowulf felt that he had to earn his glory. He showed the people that he was worthy to be a king
so the people respected him for that. While Macbeth was once a loyal thane the people had
respect for him. The power overwhelmed him with greed so he felt that lady Macbeth was right.
So he felt obligated to listen to the prophecy the three witches told him about. So he just took his
power by betraying the king to get the power.

No matter how you perceive both of them they were both leaders. The thing is their overall
leadership skills are where they differentiate at. It’s kind of ironic considering they both came
from the same background. Before the both of them really even had any power they were both
loyal soldiers fighting for their king. Macbeth let the thought of having so much power consume
him. Beowulf let that same power drive him to just be the best he could be. That’s why Beowulf
was loved and Macbeth was feared.

These are some ways that leaders become after having so much power. They mainly act the
way they do because of their ego. Nothing was given to these leaders which made them want
power and glory even more. Before they were leaders they were soldiers that were really in the
battlefield. How they handled the obstacles they encountered shape them into to the rulers they
had become. So that’s how these two leaders are alike and different.
